Skeptical Hot Topics

Because we're trying to schedule a special speaker for an upcoming meeting on con artists, we are going to make this month's meetup a general skeptical topics event. The con meetup will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

I'll present 3 or 4 current topics from the blogs and podcasts for general discussion. If there's a current topic you'd like to discuss, post it in the comments. This will be very casual and conversational.

For those of you who couldn't attend, we talked about "Proof of Heaven", Dr. Oz and GMOs, live blood analysis, bigfoot history, incorrect psychics and a couple of classic Chicago ghost stories...the evergreen Resurrection Mary, and the less-well-known Sausage Vat Murder! Doing a bunch of shorter topics was a fun change of pace!

If the meeting is on weekends I much prefer to meets in the day. I came to the last meeting on Chicago avenue but couldn't park, so I left. I'm not surewhy the meetings are in the evenings.

Well, this meetup is both on the weekend AND during the day!

There's another Skeptics event on this day: Is the idea to hit up one event and then the next?

If the date overlap is too problematic, we can certainly change it...working on finding a Chicago vice person to talk to us about con artists, so the date may change due to their availability anyway.

I don't think the date overlap is problematic as long as there is no time overlap - I often attend two or three meetups on the same day :-).

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
