Introduction

After listening to about 30 SGU podcasts over the course of a couple of weeks, I felt like it was time to actually talk with people about these things face to face.

What is the best day and time for you to meet?

Are you alarmed by the state of scientific knowledge among the general population in America?

Are there issues or topics you'd especially like to discuss at a meeting?

Are there any topics that especially interest you?

Evidence-based medicine (the vaccine "debate", alternative medicine), evolution.

What was your path to skepticism?

I think when I bought the "Broom Hilda's Magic Catalog" (or something like that) from my 2nd or 3rd grade Scholastic Book Club, and there was nothing real in it, my skeptical path was set.

    Did I ever answer whether I am a fiddler or a violinist? I started out as a violinist, switched to viola in high school and then picked picked up the fiddle as a folk instrument about 20 years ago. So, I'm a violinist/violist/fiddler, I guess. Most active as a classical violist and a folk fiddler. I don't like to play classical violin. Too many notes!
