What was your path to skepticism?

A thorough indoctrination of Catholicism during my childhood and after that bible religion (baptist) mixed with a toxic combination of Calvinism led me to the point of realizing that "god" was one mean and cruel jerk! The people imitated their "god" and I did not like what I saw or experienced. The living hell of abusive controlling religion led me to be a skeptic. I am seeing life through the lens of no religion. Looking for non dogma and inclusive groups and people to interact with and learn from. Hoping I can make a difference as I volunteer when I can. Still in the process of moving forward as the abusive religious experience was quite devastating. Hoping I'm smarter from going through it anyhow. :)

What is the best day and time for you to meet?

Are you alarmed by the state of scientific knowledge among the general population in America?

I'm more alarmed by the damage "religion" is doing to our society and the world. I think in many ways it is the cause of the lack of knowledge as religion promotes blind faith and does not encourage looking at facts or researching.

Are there issues or topics you'd especially like to discuss?

Art, music, religion and society, movies, books, history, etc...

I am moving forward to live fully after escaping the vice grip of a fundamentalist bible cult. I just got Adobe certified for Photoshop and Illustrator. I do my best to live life fully after the hell of the cult. :)
