Rennaissance dance workshop *FREE*

Would you like to try something simple and elegant? This group works on a variety of dances from the renaissance, mostly Italian, English and French.

Every dance is taught, then danced.

No fancy footwork. Low energy, mostly walking.  It helps if you know your left from your right, but some confusion won't prevent you from dancing. ;-)

The music is fairly unadorned, it is easy to hear the beat and measures, but still, if a few dancers have trouble, the group will still be OK.

I have been going to this group for several weeks. They have done simple English country dances (mostly done in contra formation), and Italian or French processional dances.

No partner needed.  The dances are pretty much gender neutral, they are nominally done in couples, but back in those days in public you barely touched hands with the opposite gender in public, so if we don't get an exact  balance, it won't matter.

They haven't asked for donations, but will accept them.

Note: others will RSVP on the other meetup group, some show up withour an RSVP.

This is a new location, come either week.  We will be dancing on a hard floor, not carpet like the prior venue.

Good crowd, including people from other meetups and including a man from Chicago Social Dance and a woman from the Rennaissance meetup group that did not RSVP.

Oh, this sounds like so much fun! Sadly, I cannot get out to the far 'burbs. Have a great time!

There are English country dances (like from Jane Austin) in Evanton and Oak park, if you can get that far out into the burbs, let me know and I can provide information.
