What we’re about
Welcome to the Chicagoland Dual-Sport Riders Meetup Club! Dual-sport, dual-purpose and adventure bikes are motorcycles that are capable of traveling both on and off-road. The purpose of the Chicagoland Dual-Sport Riders Meetup Club is to promote interest in dual-sport riding, organize dual-sport rides for club members, and organize social events for club members and families. Why should “bikers” have all the fun? This is a great way to meet riders of all levels of experience and participate in organized rides and outings. Safety takes priority on every ride that is organized through this site and it is important that every motorcyclist adhere to all applicable laws and ride within their ability.
This is a social club of independent riders who use Meetup.com to organize group rides and social events. New members at all levels of experience are encouraged to join. Sign up and come ride with us!

See all- Hugellandschaft Adventure Ride May 31-June 2, 2024Palace Campground, Galena, IL
The annual Hugellandschaft Adventure ride scheduled for May 31 – June 2, 2024. The program is unchanged from years past; no fee and you oversee procuring/funding your lodging, fuel, grub, beverages, and souvenirs. Things that are provided: About 490 miles of GPS tracks that can be ridden over 3 days (or one grueling marathon, your call) coffee at campsite 89 every morning, trick looking stickers, a feast of pork and fixins’ Saturday evening, general good times and fellowship. Not to take anything away from Taylor, but, Hugellandschaft has had its share of “Era’s” as well. We have a favorable “Reputation” there so things will commence once again from Palace Campgrounds on the north edge of Galena Illinois. Contact them at this site for more info and reservations; Palace Camp If camping is not your bag, Palace has a few cabins to rent and a quick “Lodging – Galena” Google search will reward you with a bevy of hotel and charming BnB options. Palace Camp has a swimming pool, plenty of space, mini-golf, tremendous shower capacity, friendly staff and is situated close to services, supplies, fuel and dining options. Big bike friendly and any size motorcycle will work. Each day’s tracks will include sporty pavement, gravel roads of varying conditions, Iowa Level B dirt roads, a water crossings, elevation changes, dust, loose animals, farm equipment, scenic towns and surprises of every kind. Tracks will be posted here closer to event date once I am comfortable with their quality. Here is a link to past events to get the unfamiliar familiarized; Hugellandschaft 2023 Keep in mind, I do very little organization so your enjoyment level is largely dependent upon personal involvement and preparation. On to the required disclaimer. This is an informal gathering of like-minded individuals for the sole purpose of escaping life’s responsibilities for a few days and simply enjoy life. Motorcycles are dangerous, risky, money vacuums and can mess you up. They can also be exhilarating, stimulating vessels of freedom and discovery. Know where the lines are drawn and assume some personal risk by not blaming others (i.e.-me or the campground) should your weekend experience an unfortunate smite from Lady Karma. Nuff” said. - Pennsylvania Endless Mountains RallyHills Creek State Park, Wellsboro, PA
Many of you know about Terry Gerkin's Huggelandschaft ride that typically takes place in early June each year (May 31 to June 2nd in 2024), for all his friends and riding acquaintances. It is a free rally. Only pay for your lodging. It is a blast.
Now that I am spending much of my time here in Northern Pennsylvania I thought I would showcase the wooded roads and trails that are typical of the area. There are also numerous overlooks and vistas dotted among the many small communities that are a part of what the Northern Tier (the name for this part of Pa) is. So, I have decided to mirror Terry's Huggelandschaft ride (with his permission, of course). So here are the details:
If you plan on being there, text me at 630-217-5210 so I can add you to the texting group for the event.
When: June 7-9 , 2024
Where: The ride will be based at the Hills Creek State Park near Mansfield, Pa
Lodging: Camping at the park (info and reservations are listed below) and hotels nearby in Mansfield (see suggestions below)
Routes: I will have three gps files (.gpx format) that you will be able to download from ADVRider.com or my website (emmausmototours.com) or I will email them to you. They will be available close to the date of the ride. These routes will be mostly non-technical forest and gravel roads. There may be a few optional more challenging sections added as well. But mostly this will be a low key "ride in the woods" type of affair.
Food: I will provide the Saturday night meal. I may have a bucket for donations to an area charity. The remainder of the meals will be up to you. I will provide some waypoint links for restaurants in the area as part of the gps file.No alcohol in the campgrounds
So set the date aside now and I hope to see you all there. It will be a great chance to ride with old friends and make new ones.

This event is a fund raiser for UW Carbone Cancer Center in Madison, WI. All raffle and auction proceeds are donated to UW-CCC. Donations are collected by club members and event participants. Checks to UW Carbone Cancer Center are accepted. Representatives from the UW Cancer Research Center usually come to the event to thank the club and participants for their support and to inform us of the research they have been able to perform because of the fund raising the club has made over the years. This is truly exciting and rewarding for the Wisconsin Dual Sport Riders to support research at UW-CCC to cure breast and colon cancer.
Dual Sport Route
Dual Sport is a type of motorcycle riding which is a mix of off road trails connected with the use of roads. Trails are used with permission and/or permits through the USFS, County forests, and private landowners. Trails range from 2 track, gravel, minimal pavement (as little as we can), and single track (Hero) sections that are optional - Saturday's route is usually about 125 miles and Sunday's route is usually about 75 miles (though miles and routes change often yearly). The motorcycles are street legal motorcycles that are fully off road capable. Knobby tires strongly recommended for the "Hero Sections
