Get Into Shape for X-C Skiing Then Wine Tasting @ Fox Valley Winery

Note: The address above is a mailing address. The forest preserve is actually a mile or so east of this address on Hughes Rd (Lat:[masked] Lon:[masked]).

For those of us who are X-country skiing this winter, Johnson’s Mound Forest Preserve (west of Batavia) is a great place to get our legs into shape. It is a wooded glacial kame rising 50+ ft. over the surrounding countryside. The drive looping around the mound is wide, paved, and is shared by Fox Valley hikers and cyclists getting into and staying in shape. Base to base the west part of the drive is 0.6 mi. There is outhouse at the top of the hill. Drinking water is shut down for the season. There is occasional vehicle traffic moving 5 to 10 mph on the drive.

KEEP your RSVP up-to-date.

If anyone wants to join me I usually do 2 hrs of up & down, base to base walking/jogging (OK not much jogging) on the west part of the drive Saturday & Sunday mornings (9-11 am) which will continue to x-country skiing meet-ups starting on Jan 4. If you see a red Jeep Commander in the parking lot, I'm on the mound.

If anyone is interested in socializing after the hike on Saturday we can head down to Fox Valley Winery in Oswego on Rt 34. It’s about ½ hr drive south of Johnson's Mound FP. Feel free to join me to taste or purchase wine, or just do the hike. There are also microbreweries and restaurants in the area if anyone is interested those places.

CARPOOL Make friends and $ave ga$! Comment below; your starting point, if driver or passenger, and how many seats.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
