Above Mirror Lake on Mt. Whitney in California and on the Kern River also in California.
I love group outings but it is nice to have your own campsite. I prefer to bring my own food and potlucks are nice.
Well my favorite spots are in California...so pretty far! It depends how far we are traveling but 2 to 5 day range is good.
I tent camp and having a stream for water is a luxury so I don't have to carry all my water in to the camp. Most of the places I camp do not offer showers, running water or toilets.
Boulder Lake, Nicolet National Forest in upper Wisconsin. We would need to leave on a weekday in order to get a lakefront campsite (they are not reservable). If you want to swim in the sand bottom lake, I would recommend July, August, September.
If I had my choice, I would spend my days outside hiking, biking, climbing and camping. But alas...I have to work ;-)
Such a great group of people. My family have made some wonderful friendships.
