It was great. The first time I attended. Probably around eight players that lasted pass 10.

They are a great group of people. Willing to share knowledge, no egos, and most of all, they're really nice.

Tonight was my first time at the Chicago Chess Meetup and I had a really wonderful time! The people were great and the Iguana Cafe was really cool. The food and spirits were nice too!

This is a nice, roving opportunity to meet new players and spend $20 or less on food and drink. Generally most people so far seem to like to play 5-, 10-, or 15-minute games.

Others should join because there is a good variation of ability and good exchange in humor. Kings Indian for White seems to work well for me against weaker players and also has a rate of surprise in speed chess. I need to modify this opening against players that I play often or try something else,\. Maybe an Eglish??

I felt welcome even before playing my first chess game there and even more so once the pieces started flying. I even had fun when I lost.
