Sunday Afternoon Downtown Chess Meetup

Hi all - I'm new to the windy city, recently relocated here. I'm a NM, and have taught chess classes in Seattle for years and I'm looking to find new competitive players to play here and I encourage all levels of chess players to get together for a chess meetup downtown.

I live downtown & picking a Starbucks close to the Red Line to allow others to get easy access. I'm open to suggestions to find another venue if this one is not big enough - plan on being there between about 3:00-6:00pm if enough people show.

Looking forward to meeting some new chess players!

Good start to a return to casual meetups! I know that Bruce will continue to look for better venues and I am confident that we will have a good regular meetup event for the downtown area.

Decent turnout for first one in awhile; met some nice folks. Many said they could attend future ones but not today; I plan on holding these downtown every couple weeks-- stay tuned

I'll try to stop by and maybe learn a couple of things from you guys. Masters beware, I take the 'all levels' note above quite literally :) My chess skills are definitely on the lower end of that spectrum, but I love the game and want to improve

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
