Saturday Euro Games at Mystic Celt

Mystic Celt (map)

Selected By: Beth H.

** We are ending EARLY at 3:30 pm due to a paid event at Mystic Celt!!! **

We will be starting at 11:00 am, and ending around 3:30 pm. Mystic Celt has a full menu and bar for food and drink. They are steps from the brown line "Southport" stop, and there is generous metered parking.

Outside food and drink is not allowed.

We play various strategy boardgames, also called "Eurogames" or "designer games". If you aren't familiar with that terminology, you may recognize a few of the most popular titles, like Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, Agricola, Ra, and Race for the Galaxy.

If you have a specific game you wish to play, bring it along. Otherwise, you'll likely have a broad choice of games to learn and play because several members usually bring lots of different types of games ranging from "light and frothy" to "heavy and thoughtful", with many choices in between. Most members are very happy to teach you any game you want to learn.

We will ALWAYS bring the following "core" games for players to use:

  • Settlers of Catan
  • 7 Wonders
  • Stone Age
  • Pandemic
  • Puerto Rico
  • Carcassonne

If there is a specific game that you would like us to bring, please send Beth (organizer) a message or mention it in your RSVP. You can check out our game collection here.

Mystic Celt has a huge events room for us to use, as well as a full menu and bar to order from, including breakfast food until 1 pm. The specials for Saturdays are:
$3 Miller Lite Pints
$4 Coronas
$5 All Bombs & Shots
$4 Captain Morgan Drinks
$5 Jumbo Wings (10)

Has anyone pondered a secondary venue for after 3:30pm? Could be nice to wander elsewhere and continue playing...

Guthries on Addison is friendly to board gamers from what I hear, Matt. I would be up for a second venue.

Great fun! My first Meetup with this group and I had a blast. Thanks for the warm welcome and the Midgard game prize. I look forward to next time (hoping the weather cooperates).

I took a few quick pictures and uploaded them to a Google album. Feel free to tag and share them as you like.
