Note: we have many members who want to direct a Meetup project (or one of their own). This is a required Meetup if you want to direct a 2010 project.
How to Successfully Direct Your First Short Film
Directing is more than just saying "action" and "cut" !
The bulk of what a director does actually happens before and after the shoot. The actual production is the most exciting part of the director's role. But it's only exciting (and successful) if the director is prepared.
Join us for our February "Basics of Filmmaking" seminar, as we bring back Dan Finley, a local indie filmmaker. Dan will review the tasks that a director must undertake to ensure a successful production -- and bring his or her vision to reality.
From script rewrites and storyboards to casting calls and cast rehearsals, the director can spend more than four hours in pre-production for every one (1) minute of a film. It's a lot. But it's worth it when all the pieces are in place for a smoother, more efficient shoot. And if you're doing an indie film with volunteers who are sharing their precious time with you, the need for an effective director grows exponentially.
This is a must-see presentation for any member who eventually wants to direct a film. So come out and take advantage of this special event.
