The Chicago GIS Network is born from the idea that the Chicago area is in need of a group which can bring together its GIS community. The goal is to create a network which would enable GIS users to connect with others for support with GIS issues, to learn about new developments in the GIS fields, and to share our work and experiences.
The Chicago GIS Network works to establish a thriving network of GIS professionals and enthusiasts in the Chicago area.
Goal 1 : Establish a network of GIS professionals/enthusiasts in the Chicago area who are willing/able to act as contacts when support is needed.
Goal 2: Hold monthly, topical, discussions covering GIS themed issues. These discussions include topics such as: open source GIS software experience and education resources, trials and tribulations associated with public data, certification options, job searches, understanding projection, and other various trends in the field.
Goal 3: Obtain project support from members through the sharing of ideas.
