Lets Take A Hike - Teason's Woods

We will be hiking the Yellow 8.1 mile loop in the Sag Valley Trail System, meeting at Teason's Woods.

About: Palos/Sag Valley Trail System offers an exciting mix of unpaved trails and amazing scenery that seems out of place in the Chicago metropolitan area, offering something for both the active outdoor enthusiast and the naturalist observer alike. Bikers and hikers can experience intense paths passing along geologically fascinating and poetically awe inspiring ravines. The 800-acre preserve offers a menagerie of oak savannas, hard wood forests, prairie and wetlands that are home to blue-winged warbler, scarlet tanager, wood thrush, red-bellied woodpecker, coyote, red fox, muskrat, tiger salamander and chorus frog to name a few of the noteworthy wildlife.

Directions: Take LaGrange Rd (Rt 45) south. At IL Rt 83 (Kingery Hwy) go west past the old toboggan slides. Turn left (south) onto 104th Ave and the parking lot for Teason's Woods will be on the left. http://trailmonkey.com/USpages/bikemaps/il_palossagsouthtrls1.JPG http://www.fpdcc.com/tier3.php?content_id=68&file=map_68n

Remember to dress for the weather and bring a drink/snack with you.

We will be leaving at 9:30 sharp, please be on time.

Hope you can join me -  Rob

A great group of fun and friendly hikers. The only thing that would've made it better would've been a cafe stand on the trail path to supply us with hot, steaming cuppa java...

I found this note on the Cook County Forest Preserve website: Multi-Use Trail is closed from Forty Acres to Swallow Cliff South in Sag Valley Area: The yellow multi-use trail is closed for trail surface and underpass improvements. Estimated completion date is DECEMBER 1, 2011.
This appears to be a small section of trail, but thought you might like to know.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
