Spring is preparing to release Spring 4 by the end of the year and with it a whole host of new features as well as new projects that you may not have heard about.  In this talk, Michael will give an overview of the Spring landscape as it sits entering 2014.  We'll look at some of the exciting new features in Spring 4 (Java 8 support, WebSockets, etc) as well as a few of the new projects coming out in the Spring ecosystem intended to make your life as a developer easier and more productive.

Michael Minella is a software engineer, teacher and author with over a decade of enterprise development experience. Michael is a member of the expert group for JSR-352 (java batch processing). Great presenter and great information on Spring 4. The Spring XD info is great to know for how we move forward with our Big Data issues.

The meetup will take place in the Madison room on the 3rd floor, not the 10th floor that is shown on the meetup app.

Will the presentation actually start at 5:30, or is there a period of networking first? I am taking the train in and it arrives at Ogilvie by 5:38. Thanks for the help so that I don't miss anything.
