I am very interested in some of the new Java features or concepts. There are whole prop trading firms ( one I am looking at currently) that run on Java and even use Java UNSAFE to do some high performance code to bypass garbage collection and reuse memory. I was very impressed with the use of atomic variables and CAS operations for multi producers in the LMAX disruptor pattern that was implemented in Java and is a very performance reliant code base. Basically I am looking to learn more about Java in general and how Java is being used in high performance code these days where an interpreted language was never thought to be used in before.
High performance Java would be one area of interest to me.
Yes, I definitely would like to get involved and help out in anyway I can. I am contributor on stack overflow and stack code review for a variety of languages including Java. I love technology and computer science in general and have excellent communication and presentation skills, so I would be very willing to help out in any capacity needed. Additionally, I have experience in the Financial Services industry building real time multi threaded trading applications as well as lock free programming and would be willing to share any experiences that would be deemed of value.
