No one favorite---I like music, harmonies, rhythms, and performers who are interesting.
I frequent Katerina's, Serbian Village pro-jam, Chambers pro-jam, and a Niles church jazz vespers most often. But also go to other places, depending on who's playing and how far I want to go and how much I want to spend. I like intimate gatherings best.
Hi, I'm a jazz lover, vocalist, and pursuer of jazz studies. I live up in the north end of town near Evanston.
I think the idea of a "non-traditional" meetup is a great idea---maybe just call it "member led". There is so much great jazz going on in the city and a small team of organizers cannot cover much of it and maintain a sane life. People live all over and some venues are more convenient to them than others. Plus people have different tastes. I'd love to see several meet-ups each month to choose from. The musicians in town would be delirious to have some more enthusiastic people in their audience. Let's keep jazz vibrant and alive in Chicago!
