As we hear Abraham Lincoln’s (Daniel Day-Lewis) voice for the first time as he answers those who would sacrifice freedom for peace: “We have stepped out upon the world stage now, with the fate of human dignity in our hands…”

A soldier (Daniel Oyelowo) recites the Gettysburg Address to his Commander in Chief, perhaps near Petersburg, Va., where Lincoln visited troops laying siege in early 1865. African Americans were organized in segregated units after the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, not only adding needed manpower to the Union effort but formally redefining what the North was fighting for.

Hal Holbrook plays Francis Preston Blair, a member of the Cabinet with Southern ties urging Lincoln to seek peace.

Tommy Lee Jones, as radical Pennsylvania abolitionist Thaddeus Stevens. Extremely powerful and famously inflexible, Stevens wanted immediate emancipation and lived in constant horror that Lincoln would betray the slaves to make peace.

What a fantastic movie. One of the best movies I have seen, not just this year, but ever!

Wow. Showed up, checked in through my phone, waited in the area where the "meet and greet" was supposed to be, posted an online question as to where everyone was... And, nothing. If I wanted to see a movie by myself, had tons of closer options. Way to make a newcomer feel welcome.

Hi dee. Nana had to come in late because the metra had delays. There was no way to communicate that. We waited outside of the theater after the movie for you, but you were gone. One of the guys who introduced himself to you said you were upset, so we were hoping to catch up after. Sorry we missed you.

Hi Nana..Thanks for getting back to me so fast. Yes, I have the date right, and as I've indicated in my 2nd post, I've solved the problem. I bought one end seat ticket, L1. Thanks! Arlene

Uh oh...I see that the ticket I bought is not in the designated area...OMG...You must think I'm a first class moron!...I promise I'm not -- I've never been to this theater before and am just back from a difficult four day trip to New Mexico. I'm just wondering, do you think the theater would exchange my ticket for one that you have for us? Thanks for your time and patience!

Good morning everyone! Just noticed that there are 3:10 and 3:40 showings. We are going to the 3:40. I picked 3:30 because 3:40 is not an option when posting. See you there!

Good morning, fellow movie lovers! Jonathan was kind enough to put the "Buy Advanced Tickets Now" so please purchase your tickets according to our reserved seats. Please remember to CHOOSE your seat and not just the one it is automatically given to you. Also, please note that you purchased a ticket on your RSVP so I have a better idea of who is actually coming. If you would like to mingle before the movie, I will be at the Lobby Lounge (upstairs) for a drink around 2:30. If not, we can also meet in the lobby for a discussion about the movie. See you all then! :O)

Question -- I went to the website to purchase a ticket, and it asked me to choose a seat ahead of time. I've never been to this theater (or to a meetup/movie event) before, so I'm wondering -- is this something where everyone sits on their own and gets together afterwards to discuss? Thanks!

Hi Dee, and welcome! Yes, at this theater, you can actually choose your own movie theater seat(s) based on your viewing preferences. Usually we meet after the movie for our group discussions. Your Hostess, Nana, will post more information about the "Lincoln" movie group discussion.

Hi Jonathan~Will you be sending the link for us to buy the tickets in advance or do we just go to Fandango site ourselves? Also, is there a place you will all meet before or after? Please advise. Thanks!

Everyone: After you've purchase your ticket(s) for this movie, don't forget to add "Ticket Purchased" to your RSVP box to let your Event Organizer know that you have indeed purchased tickets for that event. (RSVPing for an event simply means that you are interested in attending and that you would like to receive emails for updates on that event.)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
