Please join us at Veggie Fest 2013!
We always had really great time at the past Veggie Fests. Check out:

We hope to enjoy it even more this time!

ChicagoVeg is an official sponsor of Veggie Fest and we will be hosting a booth at the festival. Admission to the festival is free. There will be numerous veg-related vendors, speakers, food demos, music performances and other activities. For more info you can visit VeggieFestChicago.org

While we setup the meetup at noon so it could be easier for everyone to meet each other next to our booth, we also invite whoever can not make it at this time to come at any other time to our booth to say Hi and to hang out with us.
Also, if any of you are willing to help us at the booth please reply on the following message board with possible time of your availability:  ChicagoVeg.org/messages/boards/thread/35746522. Regardless if you can help just for an hour or for all day, your help will be greatly appreciated! It can be at any time during the festival which is from 11 AM to 8 PM on Aug. 10 (Sat.) and Aug. 11 (Sun.)

Please use this message board for carpooling arrangements:  ChicagoVeg.org/messages/boards/thread/35746702

Looking forward to see you at the fest!

This was my first year; I saw those wide-eyed, mouth watered, stomach acid released looks & gapes at the end of the dosa line, the confused looks at the cheers & drum rolls at the vegy/an sushi stand; & the awkward persuasions to try french fries, empanadas, & fake meats; this is real taste of chicago. Most of the vendors were like oh I made this for yal, my restaurant is coming. That's where its at, practical to do at home. I wish neal barnard or dean ornish would come talk @ one of these.

Smashed tiki warm chole & toasty paratha with chutneys, vegys, & chai baby! Already experimenting with millet puris, now bhaturias. Starchy faluda nudles, fuzzy basil seeds, turned my tongue pink rose essence, & churning vanilla sherbert - already experimenting with a vegan or healthy option. The green, purple, orange salad with rice crispies & thai sauce - ultimate, already figuring out how to add the right red, blue, yellow vegy crunchy consistency & substitute edadme.

@ Kimberly Mebane, others: I sedond Vadim's reply, Also, there are many green festivals in the Chicago/suburban area. I think Elgin, Naperville and Geneva have such. Coming September 21, VeganMania (Chicago). Farmer's Markets may also scratch your 'green itch' some, there are dozens to choose from. Hope to see you both around. Enjoy!

I've been dying to go to one of the events you have posted, but I live in the suburbs and often can't make it to Chicago. Well, since that suburb is Naperville I guess I have no excuse now, huh? Is it kid friendly? I have a 6 year old. And is it relatively inexpensive? Because I'll have at most $10 to bring with me....

    • Vadim

It's very kids friendly. The event is free. You can buy as much as you choose (or nothing) at food court.

Vadim, just found out I have to cover for someone at work but I'm available Sunday. Just let me know where the need is :)

    August 5, 2013

    • Vadim

Jackie - It would be great if you can come at 11 am on Sunday and to stay as long as you comfortable.
Let's discuss the volunteering arrangements (as/if needed) at the message board (http://www.ChicagoVeg...) so we would minimize the amount of email to people on the RSVP list.
You may also send me a direct message here: http://www.meetup.com...
