This is another joint event between ChicagoVeg, House of Ayurveda, and Chicagoland Independent & Documentary Films (CIDFilms) groups which will consist of two independent parts: a plant-base potluck and a film screening. You are welcome to join us for either (just the potluck or just the film) or for both. The potluck will start at 6:00 and the film will start at approximately 7:30 pm.
For potluck please bring:
• A 100% plant-based (vegan) dish to share to serve 5 -7 people
• A note with a list of ingredients and your name in case some may have allergies or questions
• Although we will supply disposable plates/bowl/utensils/drinking cup, we encourage you to bring your own (to be more eco-friendly).
Please check what other people will bring and specify what dish you plan to bring in the RSVP Comment section so all of us won't bring a potato salad!
The food you bring can be prepared by you or bought from a store/restaurant as long as you know ALL ingredients. House of Ayurveda will provide beverages for us.
At 7:30 PM we plan to watch documentary Mystic Lands (Maya, Jerusalem and Varanasi):
The Mayan universe of the upper world, the middle world and the underworld is explored.
Varanasi, a city sacred to Hindus, has been a center of enlightenment and civilization for more than 2,000 years. This program explores spiritual and cultural aspects of the Hindu faith, including rituals and beliefs surrounding death by cremation and the end of the cycle of reincarnation.
Holy to three major religions - Christianity, Islam, and Judaism - Jerusalem may be the most spiritually charged city in the world. Jerusalem's historic roots come to life in this exploration of the centuries-old city.
The film will follow by the film discussion and socializing.
There is a nominal $5 donation, but please don't let a lack of funds to stop you. Everyone is welcome!
We will have a free raffle as House of Ayurveda will give away some exciting prizes!
