Please welcome this evening guest speaker... Marla Rose!

Marla Rose is an author, award-nominated journalist, event organize, mother and longtime vegan. As co-founder of Chicago VeganMania, the largest free vegan festival in the region, and co-founder of Vegan Street, she has found her life's work in spreading the message of compassionate living and helping people foster confidence in their own abilities to integrate their habits with their values. Named activist of the year by Mercy for Animals along with her husband, Marla believes that finding community is essential to a successful integration of veganism so this also drives much of her work.

And finally we'll have a raffle with a number of exciting prizes!

It would great to have one or two volunteers who may come about 30 minutes before the event to help greeting and checking in people. If you are willing to help please send me a message or just show up at about 5:30pm. Thank you in advance!

My place is just a few blocks away, I'll show up early to help out, V.

I RSVP'd last night for the event and I still want to go. There is a possible storm coming. In fact, it's looking a little scary outside my house right now. I live an hour away, not counting the construction issues. My attendance will depend on how the weather is the next couple hours.

I am receiving a number of emails asking about on-line payments. Per the event description the advance pre-payment has ended as of yesterday. If you have not pre-paid online but just RSVP'd you may pay at the door ($20). Cash only.
We will be offering raffle tickets $1 each or 20 for $10 as a fundraiser and adding some excitement to win some prizes. You can see the list of prizes in my previous comment on the event page.

Congratulations on ChicagoVeg's 5th Anniversary, Vadim! What golden intentions and love you put into everything you do. And how expertly effective you have been. The people of Chicago are blessed to have you as a moral leader.

Vadim, the fact that the group I organize is larger has to do with two reasons: 1. New York is bigger than Chicago 2. You do more activism events than I do. My group is more focused on socializing (which draws greater numbers -- everyone like to have a good time), while you do groundbreaking work like founding and organizing the Veggie Pride Parade, for the benefit of all Chicagoans and all animals. You also publicize excellent educational events like Dr. Brian Clement's recent lecture. You are a true moral leader and a fantastic human being, who has been a very dedicated and effective advocate for veganism. I salute and applaud you 10,000 times for your heroic work. It is my privilege to know you.

Vadim emails the tastiest picture of food from Teresa II ! I am going to try my best to attend.

    2 · June 19, 2014

    • Paul R.

Dawn, (nice name by the way) taking the risk of creating an overexpectation, Theresa's is the best vegan food I've ever had and it's an old building so it's homey. My only problem is my shrunken vegan stomach is not big enough to give justice to the dinner. ...Vadim, 95% chance Ill be there buddy, but I can't RSVP. Never can.

      June 19, 2014

    • Vadim

Paul, if there is 95% chance you will be there please RSVP.

Additional prizes: $20 Upton's Breakroom gift certificate, $10 FlatTop Grill gift cards, the latest book by Marla Rose, VegNews one year subscription, and more!

Thrilled to be part of this group. Unfortunately I have a conflict that evening but hope to attend future events. Love being part of this community. Ready to learn from everyone.

Can't wait to be involved in such a cool local vegan community for the first time since I moved to Chicago!

This is my favorite place in far. My mouth actually started to water just at the sight of this event. If you pay at the door, it's 4 dollars more. My question is, does that four dollars go to Chicagoveg?

    June 1, 2014

    • Vadim

Yes, Paul, my mouth starts to water when I am thinking about all that food we had there last time too!
We offer the lowest admission to those who is willing to commit ahead of the time.
All additional proceeds including raffle will go to ChicagoVeg. Please buy some extra raffle tickets to increase your chance to win and benefit ChicagoVeg at the same time!

      June 3, 2014

    • Paul R.

Right now I'm in Bismarck North Dakota driving truck. I can try to be in Chicago...and in fact I will try very hard...but I can never commit. It doesn't matter so much to me about the four extra dollars anyway since it goes to ChicagoVeg. P.S. Even if it fills up, if I'm in Chicago, I'm going to crash the event :D

This place is one of the "must do's" in my book!

How come we are we doing Terressa's food 2 weeks in a row ??

    June 3, 2014

    • Mike N. D.

I don't see the 2nd event Ken speaking of?

      June 8, 2014

    • Vadim

Mike - You posted your message on the 2nd event asking about paying in person (you would need to wait for Megan's response how/if it's possible).
