FINAL CVPP Planning Meeting/Poster Making

This will be the FINAL CVPP planning meeting! The meeting will consist of two parts: 1). Organizational meeting 2). Poster making. You can come for either one of them or for both.

1). We will go over the day of parade tasks, assign volunteers that would like to help, and finalize everything for June 2nd.

2). The meeting will be followed by poster making. So, please bring a poster or two, some artsy material that you would like to use (e.g. markers, crayons, scissors, glue, magazines, etc) for its design and an idea of what you may want it to say or display.

This will be a fun and creative process.

We are asking everyone to participate in contributing with whatever possible!

Please note that this meeting is not a social event, but a business meeting, yet we intend for it to be both productive and fun!

Let's make history by organizing the very first Chicago Veggie Pride Parade together!

Please use the "Comment" area at the bottom of the event page to offer/ask for rides and post any general questions or comments.

Huge thank you to everyone who attended the meeting and especially to those who stayed longer for sign making (see the uploaded photo)!

I know some of my suggestions are a bit "dark" or cranky, but I wanted to "toss them out" there. It's great if someone has better (I'll 'steal' it!), improves mine or "vetoes" the ones that are not so good. "My" slogan on a poster or sign is much less important than (turning people into) happy and healthy veg*ns, saving lots of animals, taking some load off the environment and convincing the "omnivore" world that we are not the "Zombi Tofu Apocalypse" :-)

Very good, Alan. Let's just make sure that all our signs are consistent with the celebration (as opposed to a protest). We expect a lot of families with kids and would like the event to be as positive and joyful as possible.

    ... and:
    - "Test GMOs on CEOs!"
    - "Don't put that in your mouth - you don't know WHO it's been!"
    - "We eat to live - but we don't kill to eat."
    - "Real environmentalists are vegan" (stolen from a bumper sticker...)
    - "We are VEGAN - we ARE the change"
    - "I'm too grown up to nurse from a cow"
    - "Meat gives me Greenhouse Gas"
    - "Where do you get your cholesterol?"
    - "Veg*ns save 50 animals every year"
    - "There's no blood on my meal plates"
    - Go Veg*n - live in peace and joy"

Maybe could use these, some thoughts that might go on posters or signs. Maybe not the best of sentiments to show omnivores, but steal em, fix 'em, make 'em better, use 'em, or not :-)

    - "Meat - the meal that kills you back"
    - "Dying for a bacon cheese omelet? us too! MOO OINK CLUCK" (or pictures of same...
    - "Go veg - Billions and billions saved!" (stolen from some veg site & a mClown...)
    - "Feathers & fins, fur & skins - Friends, not food"
    - "Go veg*n and save the world! Ask me how!"
