I just got moved to a new position at work so I don't have all those weekdays off anymore. I could probably squeeze in a game or two on the weekend of the September 30. Maybe we could start a tourney that weekend? Locations?

So, yeah-- clearly, this hasn't gotten off the ground... Should we think about re-approaching, from a different angle?

    September 18, 2012

  • Sam

You aren't the only one. I haven't played in a very long time. I wonder if I even know the rules anymore

I've gotta pull back. The GF is going to trial soon, so I'll be solo with the dog and have been rather overwhelmed with work myself. I'll check in once I've mastered life and all it's demands again. :P

Dom, I just looked at the "6 attending", and didn't notice I wasn't on the list! But, yes, 7 players, then, which makes 6 games each-- I think that's probably still workable, yes? Worst case, we could set a minimum of 5, and if you played a 6th, it can't count against you... As for lists, I'd like to say static list for the entire tourney-- that is, build a "take all comers" army, and don't change it once we start. With just 5-6 games to play, I think that's reasonable-- if you end up building something that isn't awesome, you may end up playing it out more than you'd wished, but not THAT much more, right?

Sounds good to me, except I thought there were 7 including you James? We could always do open style and keep 5 games, play anyone you like but no oppnent more than once.
Full freedom on the lists between matches?

I just got back from a month in England yesterday and I'm ready for some games too. Might take me a little effort to get up to 2500 pts, but I'm sure with a new battalion box, steam tank, and extra cannon or two, and a few other characters I could probably get there...

Anyone up for a game on Saturday? If so, give me a shout.

(not tournament - maybe 2000 pts)

Bump! Let's re-name this to "2012 AUTUMN Round-Robin Tournament", and get the show on the road!!

Since it's been a month, I'll suggest we start forthwith: There's six of us, which means five games each if we go to a Round-Robin format. Without objection, I'll set up a page for record-keeping. Anyone have a problem, in light of the conversation below, with 2500 points, named characters allowed, and try to get your five games in by the end of November?

I'd take you up on the Friday game offer James, but as you know I'm headed to Europe too. We'll definitely have to get the ball rolling on the tournament when I get back.

No problem, Sam-- I'm happy to give you a 3K game. Why don't I build some Beastmen for you. Sadly, I'm not available on Saturday. Maybe Sunday, early afternoon? (I'm working a bit on Sunday, and need to figure out what time I'll be home, so it might be a bit of a squeeze, but I think we could figure something out...)

Well nevermind I was reminded by the "boss" of plans Fri. However, I do have 11am to 6pm open on sat, and would love to get in some 3k if you still can

    July 12, 2012

  • Sam

I'd be interested in a 3k vs your wood elves, beastmen, or orcs. Ive only ever played orcs once and never the other two. My warhammer education is incomplete. You looking for a day or evening game?

    July 12, 2012

  • James K.

Okay, I'm back from Europe! If anyone wants to get a game in tomorrow (Friday, 7/13), I'd be up for it...

I can play a Monday match. What time were you thinking? Galactic Force or Dice Dojo alright?

    June 29, 2012

  • Alex del C.

I can do a Monday mid-day or evening game if anyone is up for it. What can I say. I work an odd schedule.

There are far fewer broken named characters than the reused to be: with the transition to 7th Ed (yes, seventh), GW made it clear that they were designing named characters to be on par with what you could build and bring from un-named characters. As books got updated after 7th Ed came out, the new versions of named characters were basically balanced. With the eight Ed rules, even the old, un-updated characters from 6th Ed (Dwarfs, Wood Elves, Dark Elves, Skaven?) are fairly well nerfed...

I've been let loose all of Saturday this weekend I believe. I'll be playing a game... somewhere.

Regarding the Characters, I personally don't have any models, and could proxy I suppose. I've just always felt the whole group preferred to avoid the "that guy is broken" discussions regarding some named characters. I really don't care though.

Im up for one Friday probably

    June 26, 2012

  • Chris

Anyone up for a pick up game on Thursday?

    June 25, 2012

  • Chris

Your right, we have not used special characters lately. I'm for it, everyone else good with that??

    June 25, 2012

  • Richard G.

So I see in the rule set it say 'no characters'. Presume that means no SPECIAL characters? If so, can I ask why not? Special characters are no longer part of the optional rules. They are no different than any other 'Max 1' choices, like peg knights. We just did a season without half the character choices in my army books, why do another?

Lizards at 2500 pts it is :P

    Empire![masked] preferred

    June 18, 2012

  • Chris

Lets see if we can agree on 2500. Hoping this will allow more to get into the fray.

    June 18, 2012

  • Sam

2500. Or 3000 even better! Bretonnians

    June 18, 2012

  • Richard G.

I'm in! Not sure what I will play though. Dwarfs or Brets perhaps, or else Tomb Kings, though I hate packing up those fragile skeletons.

    June 18, 2012

  • James K.

I'm in. Anything in[masked] is fine by me. I'm thinking I'll go with Beastmen (since I've just done Wood Elves, and I'm doing an Orc thing right now, and High Elves is too much like cheating... :)

I'm off to Europe until July 9th, and won't be checking this site while I'm away, so I'll just plan to jump in when I'm back.

    June 18, 2012

  • Chris

I will be playing either High Elves or Wood Elves. TBD by tourney start.
