*Chicagoans* help Haiti Pages

Everybody who has a big heart, wants to give an active helping hand, share ideas and spread the word about helping Haiti is welcomed.

Only requirement for joining this group besides active participation in announced events:

  • A meaningful self-description with 200-250 words (incl. spaces).
  • Exclude kindly your name from the copy, exclude phone, e-mail, www’s and company name from this abstract.
  • Instead mention how you intend to help.
  • What skill(s) may you offer to the group?

  • Ultimately you are invited to add a little flavor by including an optional snapshot from you.

Guidelines for a meaningful self introduction.

Potential statements like (attempt not to use them or similar ones as part of your introduction/profile):
.... I just moved to Chicago and like to meet with like-minded people ...
.... I am interested in new things ...
.... I've been in Chicago for xxxxx number of years ...
.... I like to hang out with fun people
.... I like to meet new people ...
    .... I always wanted to volunteer ...

.... (also, there is no reason to repeat your name in THIS section.)

are understood. Hey, that's why this meetup exists.

Certainly attempt not to include these types of statements in your personal introduction. Instead offer to be more explicit.

Obviously the more explicit your description is, the more it will benefit the overall profile of this NLP meetup, don't you agree?

Ultimately comments to these questions may lead to a more revealing self-introduction :

    1. what your outcome (goal) for volunteering
    2. your professional background - or, if you are a student then what's your major
    3. what are you ‘bringing to the table’ for the benefit of the fellow group members
    4. if you happen to speak French or Creole, you might mention this also

We suggest to keep the introduction low key and pithy. (Cover at least 2 of these 3 suggestions).
There is space for some 30 - 35 words. (PLEASE spell-check and grammar-check before you release your posting.
    Thank you very much.)
