Little Presque Isle Cabin Trip

Friday January 17, 2014 to Monday January 20, 2014 (MLK weekend for those who have it off).

This is a fun filled adventure in rustic cabins with wood heat and no electricity.  6 people per cabin (2 ppl on bottom bunk 1 on top bunk).  You will need a sleeping bag and pad, and each cabin will need at least one lantern for lighting. Cabins are located a short walk (1-2 blocks) from the parking area, so a sled is useful to carry in gear.  Wood is provided but has to be carried (or pulled on a sled) to each cabin.  There is a water pump, but in the past it has not worked, so make sure to bring enough water for the entire weekend.  Each cabin has a pit toilet so bring toilet paper, wet wipes, and hand sanitizer.

Notice... No refund policy.  Cabins are paid for ahead of time, therefore, no refunds will be given by organizer if you drop.

This is a beautiful area with trails through the woods and along Lake Superior.  There are XC / Snowshoe trails within walking distance and other ski / hike areas located a short drive away.  Bring you XC skis and/or snowshoes or rent XC ski's and snow shoes in town at the University Rec Center.

We will leave on Friday morning or whenever you can leave. Return on Monday whenever we get done packing up and cleaning.

Carpools will be arranged within reason and sent out about 1 week before the trip.  If you want to be included in a carpool, make sure to answer the questions when sending your RSVP.

Fyi I have the wrong pair of gators and also a plastic black cap to something that I don't know what.

Your gators probably got switched with mine. I'll look later tonight when I get home. The black cap was in your lantern box when I took it out but I could not figure out what it goes with, and could not fit it back in there when packing up the lantern.

This ranks at the top for cabin trips. Ate like kings, laughed until it hurt, skiing both days and partied our butts off! Thanks to everyone for making it so memorable and a special thanks to Anna for organizing.

Just sent out carpool and cabin assignments. Let me know if you did not get the email. Per usual, I plan on stopping at Titletown on my way up, and if all goes well, leaving with a half barrel of Johnny Blood Red for the trip :)

If you use Downwind Sports check your skis carefully. Couple years ago one of us rented a badly scratched up pair that would not glide in the snow. They only gave 1/2 off upon our return.
