A varied walk taking in the delights of the picturesque Hambleden valley around the villages of Hambleden, Turville, Fingest & Skirmett.

Walk Description

The hilly walk landscape around the Hambleden valley includes a diverse mixture of woods, such as Great Wood & panoramic vistas, such those from Turville Hill (site of the impressive Cobstone Windmil).

The area has often been popular for film locations, the village of Turville (Vicar of Dibley) & the Cobstone Windmill again at Turville (1968 film Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang).

Please bring a snack lunch & water for the walk. The walk should finish at about 4.30pm  including a 30 min lunch stop & pub stop at the end), however the time may be earlier or later than this depending on the weather & pace (we have a relaxed pace which includes sightseeing & photography).

Meeting & Transport:

Meet at 10.45am for the walk to start at 11.00am
in the public car park (map ref. SU[masked]) close to The Stag & Huntsman Pub at Hambleden village, Oxfordshire, RG9 6RP (see map and photo right).

There is no public transport for this walk, I would encourage you to seek other members who are driving.

    April 12, 2013

  • John S

Do you expect any parts of this walk to be flooded/extremely muddy, given the recent rain?

    • Isabelle

Hi John, you could bring waders, just in case :)

Good morning all, is anyone driving from the north london area. I live in Enfield Town and would gladly chip in for fuel if I can get on board? Otherwise it will have to be another time.

I want to bring a friend and can't see how to add a friend to the wait list.......

    April 6, 2013

    • Alan

Hi Liz, click on 'Change rsvp', add +1 in top left-hand box, then click on 'yes' for rsvp.... but there's no spots available at the moment, so you probably have to wait until someone drops out to do this....
