Wargrave and Hurley - Walk 2 Sun 27 Apr

  • This location is shown only to members

Walk length 14 miles/22.5 km approx. Circular.

A charming and varied walk from the Riverside village of Wargrave to Hurley passing through a number of woods and some of the Thames path.

Wargrave is a small Thames riverside village that has ancient roots, but is characterized now by largely Edwardian buildings. In the 11th century the wife of Edward the Confessor held the manor, it was known then as Weregrave.

Lunch and Finish

Please bring a snack lunch and water for the walk. The walk should finish at about 5.00pm and include a 30 min snack lunch stop and pub at the end, however the time may be earlier or later than this depending on the weather and pace (we have a relaxed pace which includes sightseeing and photography).

Meeting: We are meeting at Wargrave station from 10.45am for the walk to start at 11.00am.

By car: The car park at Wargrave Station is charged on a Sunday. Other free roadside parking close to the station may be available, please check for parking restrictions and allow enough time to park.

By train: The train from London Paddington at 09.43am gets to Wargrave for 10.47am. Please see First Great Western for more information on this. If coming by train please let the organizers know.

I would encourage you to seek out other people who are driving from London, or who can go as part of a group save on the train.

Please make a note of  the organizers numbers - Colin[masked] and Leon 07950125826.

RSVP: The organizers monitor non-attendance; we will ban anyone who 'no shows' twice for our events. You are also asked to please update your RSVP at least 24 hours beforehand. Please see our RSVP policy

Weather: Updates will be posted; see also BBC Weather Please see our weather policy

Dog Policy: As a group we allow and enjoy dogs on our walks however we do ask dog owners to read our dog policy

Walking Safety: Walking is a great way to keep fit and generally very safe; however it does contain an element of risk. Before going on any of these walks you need to be reasonably fit and be prepared to be responsible for your own safety. You must wear appropriate clothing such as proper walking boots, warm and wet weather clothing and carry sufficient food and water. Please see our Terms and Conditions

Amazing I can still move after a 14.6 mile walk ! It was a nice mix of open countryside and the Thames path with the occasional hill climb before the next occasional hill climb. Thankyou Colin,Isabelle and Leon,
