3D Thursdays: What's New in 3dPrinting at CES

Andy Cohen, local 3dprinting guru and Sebastopol Radio Shack owner will be giving our keynote, talking and showing videos he shot on the floor of CES2014 where he saw and got to play on all the latest 3d print stuff.

Anyone else who has a 3dprint project is welcome to bring it to share.  Bring your printer, bring your prints, bring your ideas. . .

Future topics may include:

Scanning for printing
Modelling for printing
Post-print finishing
Making 3d terrain models
Lost print casting
3D portraiture/caricature

If you have an interest in a special area of 3d printing we would love to hear about it.  Post a comment and we will put something together.

I think leading with a general intro and then something specific would be the way to go as we are averaging about 50% of people who don't know about 3D printing at all.

Wow! What a great material that ITRI has developed for 3D printer use. This is really great news. The Engineering dot com website is also very interesting. Thanks for finding this.

I enjoyed this view into the future! What amazed ME most was Cyrus (13) with his LEGO creation that works on the same principal as a 3/D printer as an educator I have to say WOW first kid in the county to show up THAT strong..watch this space!!

Thanks to Andy for his presentation. The different solutions for a common goal by all the companies reminds me of the early days of desktop disk drives. Someday these will be commodities just the the hard drive.

A big thanks to Andy for his great presentation. And kudos to Steve and Dana for getting Chimera's first (working) 3d Printer going. I see great things in the future.

I think I saw them at CES. We'll look at the pic of the over the shoulder view Thursday night. Was MakeVR the great solution the video say? Not too sure IMO.

Looks cool Alex. I'd back it if it was open source and the controllers interfaced with Blender.
