You probably shouldn't expect to learn chinese characters and calligraphy in a few sessions. Getting exposed by Picasso to different calligraphy styles, helped me to get better with reading handwritten chinese. Both Picasso and Jenny are great and really helpful to understand all kinds of aspects of chinese culture.
