I am sharing a online field-testing of a proficiency-based Chinese test for reading and listening comprehension, currently in development by American Councils for International Education.
Target Test-taker: At least in third year college level of Mandarin or Intermediate High or above language proficiency
The test will consist of two sections: reading comprehension (simplified characters at this time) and listening comprehension. Each section has 43-45 questions, with 90 minutes allotted to each section. It is possible that test-takers will not need the full 90 minutes for a section, and they will be able to skip to the next section. More detailed instructions will be sent to participating test takers.
The test will be available online from Tuesday, January 17 (9:00 a.m. EST) through Monday January 23, 2012 (5:00 p.m. EST). Students may access the test at any time online, but technical assistance will only be available between the business hours of 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. EST.
The test will run in any Web browser (on Mac or PC). There must be Flash on the computer you use to play the audio in the listening section. Flash can be downloaded for free at: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Headphones or speakers will be needed for the listening section.
If you are interested in participating in the field-test, please send your name and email address to Ysabella Chen (firstname.lastname@example.org).
