3hr beginner class on Chinese Painting and Calligraphy
ABOUT OUR CLASS
Learn how to paint a range of popular subjects using Traditional & Contemporary Chinese Brush Painting techniques. Traditional Chinese painting involves essentially the same techniques as calligraphy and is done with a brush dipped in black or colored ink; oils are not used. As with calligraphy, the most popular materials on which paintings are made of are paper and silk.
Our classes will gradually increase in difficulty, and feature such subjects as swallows, bamboo, wild orchids, plum blossoms, pandas, horses, peonies and more. Our teacher Yeut Yean Teo Yuet graduated from Nangyang Academy of Fine Art which is the most prestigious art college in Singapore, and The Camberwell College of Art, she specialises in Oil and Acrylic painting, Chinese Painting and calligraphy. She will be teaching Chinese Painting and calligraphy at our studio in Whitechapel on every Friday evenings from 6:30-9:30pm.
Our teachers are experienced artists and art tutors who exhibit extensively throughout the UK and internationally. Under their tutorage, we are committed to helping students to reach their full artistic potential at their own pace.
Chinese painting requires watercolour paints, India ink, rice paper and different kinds of brushes. You need to prepare your own materials at class. If you are going to prepare materials yourself, you can get these materials at China Town. Alternatively, rice Paper can be purchased at our studio for £1 (2 pieces).
