This hike is TOO COOL. Passes along both sides of the Schoolcraft River valley. Ozawindib guided Schoolcraft up the river we will cross. The valley has a diverse forest; most of the trees present in the county are side by side here. The Ozawindib party portaged form the Schoolcraft westward to what we call Lake Itasca.....quite a hike with canoes & all. We will pass a Great Blue Heron Rookery, open fields of an old settler and through mature mixed decideous forest.

An update on Spring Hiking Series # 1, Mother's Day Hke held on May 11th. There was not a Meet-up announcement, my bad. We had 16 hikers and hiked from HWY 91 to Nelson Lake, around the lake and around Lake 21 and back to HWY 91. Great Weather, Great Hike! Will post a picture later.
