Talk techie stuff including Python gaming?

Overview

Would be great to meet some other Pythonistas, and maybe Django-istas. I'm interested in all things Django and Python really, plus PostgreSQL, Celery, etc.

Suggestion for one topic is Python gaming - I got the Minecraft clone in Python running recently. It's just 600 lines of code and is quite amazing considering the size, all due to the amazing Pyglet gaming module. The tiny code size makes it easy to understand what's going on.

Although I know nothing about gaming development, I could do a quick demo if people are interested. There are lots of other Python games, some of them 3D.

Confirmed Talks

1. Pyglet and Minecraft: 3D gaming in less than 500 lines of Python

2. Applications of Linear Algebra with Python

I ended up presenting a version of my Minecraft in 500 lines talk at PyCon UK recently, and there was also a Raspberry Jam using the real Minecraft Pi edition, using Python to control it and write add-on apps/games. All great fun!

If someone has a Raspberry Pi, it would be good to try the MineCraft Pi Edition and its Python API. http://stuffaboutcode.com has some good resources, from someone who was involved in the Raspberry Jam at PyCon.

Good meeting - it really got the brain cells ticking over. Now I have another course to add to the long list of MOOCs I want to take.

Great to meet some other techies and talk about the Minecraft game in 500 lines of Python. My slides are now up on Slideshare with some improvements, in particular I explain the sector concept (thanks for that question!) http://www.slideshare.net/rdonkin/pyglet-and-minecraft-v1-1

If anyone would like a lift from Bath centre (the Tramshed, Cloudfind offices), let me know - I can squeeze one or two people into my car! Depends on how many Cloudfind developers I can convince to come :)

This sounds very interesting. I started looking into Python recently and will try to get involved in some open source project. Python is a great language.
