We'll have our office as a placeholder. May move to a pub if anyone knows of something sensible.

Since I don't keep in touch much with developments on the front end, I would find it interesting to hear about one or two of the new (or not so new) things there. Perhaps a demo of jquery, bootstrap, amber or Android.

I'm also interested in jQuery, Bootstrap, etc - currently building a web app with Django and Bootstrap, with a bit of jQuery UI.

Possible topics (meant to be a reply but there was no submit button for the reply field):
Real-time web app development with Python perhaps - gevent, gunicorn, tornado, and use of WebSockets / Comet etc? Really a variant of your high performance web apps comment.
Another area might be using Python within .NET, Windows Azure, etc. Bringing the benefits of Python to non-conventional platforms generally - Android etc.
Thanks for the DBUG tip - do they have a web presence or is it just Google Groups?

Mailing list I think only - it's the guys at potato [masked]. Thanks for the suggestions. Anybody else?

Hadoop is another possible topic.

Hi everyone. Interested in the Gunicorn / Gevent stuff... or anything Pythonesque really. Any Django developers out there?

I've done one project on Django so far. There's the DBUG meetup group in Bristol as well where there's lot of Django talk.
Thanks everyone. It would be good to talk about high performance web apps after Christmas as a follow-up to this. Gunicorn and Gevent are interesting within this space.

Just a quick note. I'm not going to be able to cover service decomposition as part of the presentation. I'll save that part for the post-presentation pub discussion. We can possibly talk about what modular web frameworks mean in terms of application architecture.

We thought a general IT event where techies from the Chippenham area can get together to chat and swap war stories and tips would be a good idea. Open to all who are interested, our experience is mostly around R, Java, Python, .NET, SAS etc
