McPherson Texas Wine Dinner w/ Kim McPherson, Sat. July 9th, 7pm $65 inclusive, 346-7900

Please join Mirabelle Restaurant is welcoming the best winemaker in Texas, Kim McPherson, for a Saturday night Texas Wine Dinner. McPherson is perhaps the most celebrated name in the Texas wine industry. Kim's dad, Doc Mcpherson, is recognized as the father of the modern Texas wine industry and is still its premier grape grower. Kim has won more than 450 medals in state, national and international wine competitions including two double gold medals at the San Francisco Wine Fair. And his 2010 Rousanne just won Gold and Best of Class at the Riverside International Wine Competition.

Kim believes in "planting to the land" so McPherson Cellars focuses on warm climate varietals that originated in Southern France, Italy and Spain. To many of us in the wine business in Texas, this varietals and wines are the present and future of Texas wines and really the perfect foil to our big flavored, spicy Texas cuisine. We will be serving the just released Viognier and Rousanne, which are, by Michael Vilim's judgment, the best two white wines in Texas. The two red blends, Tre Colore and DBS, are jammy and full of forward fruit, the Sangiovese is classic, and the Rose of Syrah is destined to become your favorite pool pounder. Dinner finishes with Chansa Single Cream Sherry, Kim's personal enthusiasm which is as good as any cream sherry as there is. We at Mirabelle are frequently asked what the best Texas wines are: come to the McPherson Wine Dinner and taste them.
