The purpose of this group is to get out and praise God in a more natural setting. We build elaborate cathedrals and buildings to praise God, but he already built the most beautiful cathedrals out in nature. The goal is to get out in these natural setting with like minded people and explore what creation has to offer. One of the main reasons that I started this group is my pure love for both God and nature and the conflict that this can bring at times. It seems that I am always torn on the weekends as I want to both go to Church and to go backpacking or camping. As a result, I decided why not bring Church out into nature as Jesus was frequently seen preaching and healing out in natural environments. Standing out in a canyon or on a mountain, his presence can be seen everywhere from the rocks, to the flowers, and the clear flowing water. Another reason I started this group is that there is a lot of negative peer influence in natural environments as a lot of people view nature as a place to party. My goal is to keep this a family friendly group where everyone can sit around the camp fire and not worry about what is going to happen next. However, since we will be out in natural environments, which are open to all people, we can never guarantee who will be camping next to us. About me: I do not know if I am necessarily the correct person to lead this group, but there is such a lack in this area that someone needed to spring into action. God has been pushing this idea into my heart for the last couple of months and I do not know why I took so long to act except that I have never tried to organize anything like this before. I am definitely not a Saint and have done wrong in the past, but God is the Lord of second chances, so maybe this is the right group for me. I have been out hiking, backpacking, camping, and canoeing in Nature for over a decade and a Christian for a little bit longer than that. At one point, I worked for a Christian Camp leading Outdoor trips, when I was in college, but that was some time back. In the end, I just want to share my love for both God and Nature. What we could use: Since I do not have a lot of experience preaching or playing music, we could definitely use people who are good at preaching (sermons at camp) or someone who is musically talented (play music around the campfire). At the same time, we need a lot of people who enjoy being out in nature and who love God or are interested in learning about him. Some of the activities that this group will partake in are as follows: camping, backpacking, hiking, etc.

Walking through these missions built by the Francican Fathers in the 1600's, one can understand the life of the pueblo indians and their excitement about Christ. Sadly...
