Fall Mixer

It's been WAAAAY too long since we've had a mixer. We've had 3 or 4 games going on with some of our members but nothing publicly available so it's time to get together.  As with all our mixers these will be one-shot adventures to let you get to know other people in the community.  You DO NOT have to be familiar with the rules or settings, the GMs will explain the rules to anybody who is new to the system, and character sheets will be provided.

Our first game is Nova Praxis, a science fiction setting based on the Fate Core system.  Space ships, robots, alternate reality, big guns, clones, you know the drill.

Our next GM will be running Earthdawn, a high-fantasy setting with the traditional sword-and-sorcery mix of wizards and warriors, elves and archers.

And lastly, I've decided to try out the Buffy the Vampire Slayer RPG.  I've never played it before, so it'll be a learning experience for all of us.

So there's your three options: One science fiction, one fantasy, and one horror.  I'll be making chili and hot dogs. You just need to bring yourself and either a two-liter of soda or something that goes well with chili (ie, cheese, sour cream, chips, crackers, etc).  Please indicate in the comments or in your response with game(s) you're most interested in.

I had a great time meeting everyone.

Have to send a shout out to Christian, Jacob, and Ahmad for our epic, insane, and Indiana Jones esque Nova Praxis Game.

I would love to get a regular game of any sort with members of this group.

Something light and fun to start off with and potentially drama filled later on.

Two systems I've never heard of, one I've merely heard of but never played....

... and yet I'm so excited I can hardly wait! :)

I know y'all said that experience was not necessary and such, but is there a PHB1-equivalent that I should be familiarizing myself with? My experience with roleplaying at this point is pretty limited to D&D 4e, and I'd hate to be the only guy who was slowing things down by needing to ask too many mechanical questions.

Also - *longtime* fan of the Buffy TV series. Not one of those a-bit-too-serious fans or anything, but I've watched all 7 seasons and some of them more than once. Is the roleplaying system just the setting, or do you inhabit the characters from the TV series as well?

Yeah, we organize the mixers specifically for folks to try out systems they might not be familiar with. Regardless of which game you pick, you won't be the only one new to the rules. The GMs will give a brief overview/explanation along with a filled-out character sheet, so you don't have to be familiar with it beforehand.

Also, the Buffy game is based on the "Unisystem" developed by Eden Studios (www.edenstudios.net), which they apply to various settings such as "Buffy," "Angel," "Army of Darkness," and other Horror-themed properties. We won't be playing as established Buffy-canon characters. Rather, I've drawn up some OCs (Original characters) for the adventure. In the timeline it will be post-Season 7 just so we can excuse having some potential slayers who recently had their Slayer abilities activated. It will be set in Cleveland (it wouldn't be Buffy without a local Hellmouth) and some of the OCs are high school kids, so we can get a Seasons 1-3 flair.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
