It's been way too long since our last mixer so let's get together. If you're new to us, then welcome & we hope you can make it! Our mixers are low-key events where a GM or two prepares a one-shot adventure to let folks get to know each other and maybe learn a new system. There's no long-term commitment, and because they tend to be pretty light on rules and heavy on fun you don't have to worry about whether or not you've ever played this game before.
I'll make a pot of chili & a pot of vegetarian black bean soup and you can provide a side (a bag of chips, 2-liter of your favorite beverage, or whatever it is you just can't game without). The only thing you need to bring is dice if you have them, and a pencil. The GMs will provide character sheets for their campaigns.
Right now, our first confirmed game will be "EarthDawn." Everything you would expect from a high-fantasy system (elves, wizards, dragons, magical weapons, etc) set in a civilization that is emerging from the caves it retreated into when other-worldly monsters began invading their lands. Just how safe is it to leave your cairn?
Our second game will be a variant of "Savage Worlds." Savage Worlds is a setting-agnostic set of rules that can be applied to science fiction, fantasy, or historical settings. Focused on simple rules and playing fast, this is a great chance for folks new to roleplaying to see what it's like, without the intimidation of "established mythos" or multi-volume sourcebooks. Fans of pulp novelist Robert E. Howard might especially enjoy joining us for this "Solomon Kane"-inspired session. Players will be fighting monsters from 17th century Europe in an attempt to rid the land of the evil that is trying to take root.
If neither of these scratches your itch, there will also be an opportunity for Munchkin, Dominion, Catan, or whatever else folks are in the mood for. We'd love to see you there!
