CANCELLED due to rain - Hike: Alamere Falls (Palomarin, Point Reyes NS)

  • Alamere Falls - Palomarin Trail

Mesa Rd (end), Bolinas, CA (map)

    37.934150 -122.747314

  • Updated 1/4/12:

***This Hike is CANCELLED due to afternoon showers.***

    • Join us for a beautiful 7.5 miles in-and-out coastal hike along the palomarin to Alamere Falls.  This is one not to be missed!

Difficulty: Moderate to easy, elevation gain is only 350 feet.

    Duration: 4 hours.

For a description of the hike, visit:

Carpool: 9:00 a.m. at Michael's and Carl Junior's parking lot on Homestead by De Anza in Cupertino.

Or meet at trailhead at 11:00 a.m.

    Directions to trailhead:

From US 101 in Marin County, exit CA 1/Mill Valley/Stinson Beach. Drive on Shoreline Highway to the junction with Almonte, about 1 mile. Turn left on CA 1 and drive about 2.5 miles to the junction with Panoramic. Continue straight on CA 1 about 13 miles to an unsigned junction with Olema-Bolinas Road (just past Bolinas Marsh). Turn left. Drive 0.1 mile to a T intersection with Olema-Bolinas Road, turn left, drive about 1 mile to the junction with Horseshoe Hill Road, and again, turn left. Drive to the next stop sign, then turn right onto Mesa Road. Drive about 4 miles, then continue the last 1 mile on the dirt road to the trailhead at the end of the road. If you have a high-clearance vehicle, take it. The road isn't terrible, but can be washed out and bumpy.

Bring: Water (at least 1 liter), lunch, snacks and cash for gas and GG Bridge toll.

Wear: Layered clothing & long pants.  Current forecast is sunny but cool (57F). Poison oak thrives along the trails.

    Cancellation policy: Rain cancels

Hey everyone, sorry Jenny cancelled this hike, but I have invited a ton of people to come and I can't cancel it entirely since I can't contact half of the people... So I will still lead a hike, albeit a shorter local hike, either Fremont Older or Hidden Villa or Rancho San Antonio. We can decide tomorrow... If you are itchy for a hike, meet me at Michael's parking lot at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow... No need to bring lunch, just water.

Currently planned for by dinner time. I'm thinking dinner at Backayard (1189 Willow Road
Menlo Park, CA 94025) for a Caribbean dinner if other folks are interested. :)
