Lets get together and cook a meal for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House (Cambridge House) on the campus of Phoenix Children's Hospital at Highway 51 and Thomas.

There is a person limit of 8 due to the size of the kitchen. If you RSVP 'Yes' and then can't come to help, please change your RSVP right away to free up a spot for someone else.

Also, comment below on the meal, sides, desert and drink we should provide. Once we create the menu then we can decide if we want to contribute money to one person to do the shopping or all decide to bring items from a shopping list I will make.

Hello everyone- I did the food shopping last night and so we are all ready for Saturday. The only thing I need the day of is ice-- would a couple of you be willing to bring some?
I think we will need about four bags to fill up a couple of coolers. I have cans of soda that I will pre-chill so we can use the ice to keep them cold. Other than that we should be set
I will plan to be there around 3:30 but you can come anytime after 4:00 if you like. I really don't think it will take too long to get the show on the road-- Let me know for sure if you are coming and if you can bring ice-- thanks guys!!

The only thing I don't have are plastic knives. I tried to buy some at Frys but they only sold them with fork and spoon sets. I was hoping to get just a box of knives. Does anyone by chance have some they could bring? I have about 15 is all.

Hi I have another idea I would like to throw out there:

    Menu:

    Chicken Enchiladas
    Spanish Rice
    Chips and Salsa
    Soda
    Dessert

I would provide all the meat, cheese and enchilada sauce, plates and napkins. Others could bring from the following list:

    Flour Tortillas
    Boxes of Spanish Rice Mix
    Tortilla Chips
    Salsa
    Sour Cream
    Soda
Cookies / (or Dessert of Choice)
    Soda
    Ice
    Plastic Forks
    Plastic Cups

Or, if the group would like, I don't mind doing all the shopping, and each woman could donate $10. Then all one would have to do is show up Saturday to help.

These enchiladas are very tasty and easy to make, and they would be fun to make as a group. You simply roll each tortilla with some meat and cheese, top with sauce and throw in the oven. We could meet at the RMH at 4:00, spend an hour prepping and then pop them in the oven for the last hour. The Rice Mixes can be done in the microwave. All should be easily ready to serve by 6:00.

Please let me know what you think--thanks!

Sheri: I am pretty sure (if my memory serves me correctly-it has been several months) that they had containers to leave stuff in there. They have quite a bit in that kitchen already; things that people leave (spices, condiments, breadcrumbs, oils, etc.) after they have prepared meals. Lots of utensils and pots/pans, etc. etc. I am PRETTY sure they had containers for left-overs too.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I will go ahead and plan to do the shopping then so all you all need to bring is your helping hands and $10. I will plan to cook the enchiladas in disposable pans so we can leave the leftovers in the same pans. I am looking forward to our time together and learning more about the RMH!!

Hey ladies!!! I'm really excited about volunteering and want to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible. I think it might be a good idea to meet beforehand, even if only for a short while, in order to talk about the menu, shopping, what to expect while there, etc. what does everyone else think?

Becca: I did this with a group a year or so back, and we fed all families that were there at the time. If I recall, it was about 40 people.

We made pizzas, salad and cookies. I was not part of the planning committee, only the implementation piece :-)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
