Tall Ships

To All Artisans...

There is a great photography opportunity coming up...
Admission will be about $15 to $20, depending on what you want.
Parking for the day is usually $24.00...I was just there last weekend, for a different event.
This will afford great shots both for documentary and fine art photography: color, B&W, wide angle, close up, detail and macro. Go sailing, if you want...why the hell not...! Details to follow.

Six days of a once-in-a-lifetime experience are waiting for you and your family to discover this summer during Pepsi® Tall Ships Chicago 2010 at Navy Pier®!

Navy Pier proudly welcomes over 20 majestic and historic Tall Ships from around the world as they make a rare return to Chicago, August 24 — 29. For the first time in Chicago, a Tall Ships festival of this size and importance will be located in one place — in a mile long display at Navy Pier.

The pageantry kicks-off with an opening day Parade of Sail on Lake Michigan as these storied ships with their billowing sails make their way to Navy Pier's docks, set against the backdrop of our world-famous city skyline. This breathtaking spectacle heralds the start of this long awaited festival celebrating the rich maritime heritage of both Chicago and Navy Pier. It promises to be the quintessential summer attraction in Chicago.

Pepsi Tall Ships Chicago 2010 has something for everyone at Navy Pier! Come be a part of this unique, family friendly festival that offers diverse activities such as ship viewing, on-deck tours, sailing excursions, nightly fireworks, arts and crafts, entertainment, interactive greening initiatives and so much more. Spend an entire day or two to create memories that will last a lifetime.

Don't miss the excitement as the grace and grandeur of maritime yesteryear is brought to life on Chicago's lakefront!

Will we be doing a group ticket thing or should we go ahead and start buying tickets on our own? Just want to know before I make plans to purchase tickets. :)

The groupon expired Jun 15, 2010. Do you know of any other discount ideas? Does one purchase them ahead of time? Where? Will they be sold out if purchased at the door? I doubt it but you never know.

To All Artisans...Because the actual attendance vs. "Yes" RSVP's for Field Meetups is unpredictable, each member needs to purchase his/her own tickets. However, I strongly suggest car pooling to reduce parking costs for the day. They will be approximately $18.00 - $25.00+

For a little savings, some Dominick's grocery stores are selling tall ship dockside tickets (viewing only) at a cost of $13.

It was a wonderful events. The ships were fascinating and I enjoyed going aboard a few of them. I took some interesting photos, and will share them as soon as I get them edited.

It would be nice to go on a weekday, if possible.

Hot, crowded, vibrant, and filled with too many photographic opportunities that I could not take advantage of in the 5.5 hours I was there. I should have taken my cap off because I now have a "bowl" suntan!!!
