We're on the homestretch of studying the epistle of 1 John. For this meetup, we'll focus on chapter 5:1-13.
As we've already seen, the Apostle John repeats key concepts and thoughts throughout this letter. Why? Well, there are a couple of good answers:
(1) we need to hear it over and over. It's a testimony of how our heart is so willing to wander away from living for God and His priorities for us.
And, (2), it reminds us of what's really important. We have so many things pulling on us all the time: our job, projects, doctor visits, bills to pay, errands to run, chores to do, etc. It's easy to just put our hearts in a sort of 'auto-pilot' zone and forget why we're really here. Ok, your yard looks great--but that's not why you're really here. Your boss gives you a great evaluation, but that's not why you're really here. Your children are well on their way to becoming professional athletes, but that's not why you're really here.
Come and dive in to these important passages with us. It will help you to reignite your faith and your focus on the Lord Jesus--the reason why you're really here.
