The time for our next discussion has arrived! We'll be meeting at Red's Porch on Good Friday, March 29th (7pm) to discuss the fascinating and mysterious topic of predestination. From our good friends at Wikipedia:
"Predestination, in theology, is the doctrine that all events have been willed by God. John Calvin interpreted biblical predestination to mean that God willed eternal damnation for some people and salvation for others. Explanations of predestination often seek to address the so-called "paradox of free will," whereby God's omniscience seems incompatible with human free will."
The issue of predestination has been hotly debated throughout time. In fact, it was (arguably) a fundamental disagreement on determinism between two titans of theology, John Wesley and George Whitfield, which eventually led to the founding of the Methodist Christian denomination.
Since this topic is such a difficult one to wrestle with, our resident theologian, Mr. Steven Badal, has graciously agreed to provide us with an introductory overview and framework for this discussion. You will certainly not want to miss this one! So, do what research you can ahead of time, and please come with questions prepared.
I can't wait to see you all again soon!
In love and friendship,
Eric L. Gomez
