The purpose of Cigars & Theology is to bring together those of us who are exploring theology and spirituality to engage interesting topics through conversation, cigars and drinks. We do this by asking one another difficult and often controversial questions and allowing the ensuing conversations to have their own way. Hopefully, the result is a refined understanding of some of our most difficult spiritual issues.

This is still Texas, and the majority of our members as well as organizers claim the Christian faith, so the majority of topics have their origins in Christianity. With that said, we are not affiliated with any church or religious organisation, and people of every faith level and background are welcome.

Authentic conversation seems to flow more easily around smoke and adult beverages, so we are leaving the sanctuary behind in favor of the patio in order to try to give licence for people to say what they think rather than what they suspect the "right answer" is. Sometimes we will have a general topic to serve as a jumping off point, sometimes we will use a chapter of scripture, and sometimes there will be no topic at all. In each case the conversation is moderated and facilitated only by the members of the group, there is no curriculum.
