I love the outdoors, and I'm hoping to meet others who share that interest. I just moved back to Cincinnati from Chicago and am looking for fellow backpackers in the area.
I started backpacking in college and I always felt like I had more energy and was happier when I was hiking.
I can't think of just one. I always have a good time when I'm backpacking and each trip has something new and good about it.
Hiking on the AT, just north of Damascus I was trying to sleep in a shelter with about 5 people snoring. So I got up in the middle of night to pitch my tent. Woke up in the morning to find the base of my tent right next to a sign that read "no tenting within 300 yards of shelter".
Maybe the same as above.
I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2004, just after I graduated from college. It took 6 months and it impacted me in a lot of ways, meeting people, living in the outdoors, living so simply, the experience continues to unfold to this day. Other than that, since I'm originally from Cincinnati most of my weekend excursions have been in Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia and Virginia. Have never ventured out West, and would at some point love see some spots out there.

Hello Katie, welcome to the Cincinnati Backpackers. Hope you're able to join us on a hike. Some trips are geared towards newer hikers and some towards the more experienced. Hopefully one will work for you. I am going to thru hike the AT in 2013. I can't wait. Hopefully I'll see you on a hike before then and you can give me a few pointers.
