I Took Some Pictures – Now What Do I Do? : How to Move, Store, Edit & Share Your Pictures with the World

Are you new to the digital scene? Do you have pictures stuck on your camera because you don’t know how to get them off? Are you looking for a way to edit your images but you don’t know where to start? Are you looking for options to organize and store your images long-term? Then this is workshop is for you!

This 2-hour class is designed to teach the new digital photographer how to work with their digital files. There will be lecture time and then hopefully time for some guided practice. Participants are encouraged to bring a fully-charged laptop/notebook computer with them if possible so that they can work along with the examples give. However, attendees can still benefit from the workshop even if they are unable to bring a computer. (The library has computers but 1) the computers will not be in the workshop room and 2) the general public uses those computers and so we will not be able to guarantee the availability of those computers for our use.)

Topics to be covered:
1. How to Use Camera Cards
2. How to Get Your Images on a Computer
3. How to Get Great Pictures With 5 Simple Edits
4. How to Store Your Images
5. How to Post Your Images on Meetup.com
6. Questions, Answers & Application

Items to bring:
- Paper & pen/pencil to take notes
Optional:
- Laptop/notebook computer (fully charged; cannot guarantee access to outlets

Lois, I am not going to discuss either in this workshop. Both of those can be overwhelming for beginners and require a substantial money investment ($100-$800). Those apps are more appropriate for intermediate users. I will be showing some very nice free programs out there that new users can utilize to experiment with and learn the basics.

I'm going to be coming straight from work, so I won't have time for dinner beforehand. Great idea though!
