Insomnia is something that I know well. I’m actually on day four of nights where I usually get about 2-4 hours of sleep at the most. If it goes on long enough everything will start to slow down including reaction time, focus, processing thoughts along with constant headaches, a weakened immune system and if you are really lucky hallucinations. If you have never had the pleasure of experiencing insomnia first hand I’m going to ask you to imagine having to make it through your work week with the effects listed above. Now imagine that you are feeling the listed effects above and your profession requires you to carry a gun.

I originally planned on showing another film but after suffering a week long bout from the sleeping disorder I started thinking about the wonderful little crime film by Erik Skjoldbjærg. Sullied police detective Jonas Engström (Stellan Skarsgård) finds himself in the coastal town of Tromsø, where he is trying to solve a murder. Unfortunately Jonas arrives in Tromsø during the midnight sun.
Roger Ebert had this to say about the film “The movie is not a thriller or an action picture, but a psychological study. "Crime and Punishment'' comes to mind, with its theme of a man who believes he stands outside the rules that apply to other people.” “It's easy to make movies with external action, chases and shoot-outs. It is much harder to make a film in which many of the important events take place inside the minds of the characters. Much depends simply on where the actors are arranged in the frame, so that we can see one face and not another.”
This Showing will be a little more intimate than Boogie's since it will be held at the Headquarters and space is limited.
Since space is limited I appreciate some notice if possible if you have rsvp'd but are not able to attend the showing. It would allow others to rsvp who might be able to attend.
The Headquarters is in a decent area in the NE so there are many food options. I will be taking orders if any one would like any thing delivered. (Let me know in advance if you are thinking of ordering food.)
A warning for anyone with bad allergies, we do have a cat and dog residing here but the cat spends most of his time outdoors so hopefully his presence won’t be too much of a deterrent.
I look forward to seeing you there.
