Cinema Paradiso Anniversary Potluck

Eight days prior, the Cinema Paradiso Discussion Group had its first birthday.  It’s amazing to think that it has already been a year. It’s been over a decade since my previous attempt at starting a group like this failed. Thankfully with Jacinda’s encouragement and social sites like meetup, I was able to finally bring this group to life. I honestly didn’t think anyone would be interested in a group like this but I was quickly proven wrong when we had over 50 Celluloid Lovers join within the first few days of the group going live. I’m very proud of this group and I want to thank all of the Celluloid Lovers who have made this group special.

To celebrate our first of hopefully many anniversaries, Jacinda and I thought we should host another potluck since the first one went over fairly well.  Just as the group doesn’t limit what types of films are shown, you are free to bring any kind of dish you like.  We only ask that you let us know a head of time what you are bringing so we don't end up with 10 plates of deviled eggs and nothing else. Jacinda is the master of the kitchen at the Paradiso Headquarters so feel free to message her regarding any dishes or post a comment below.

Any Celluloid Lover is welcomed to the potluck regardless if you have been to a meetup or not.  We also won’t turn you away if you are unable to bring something or choose not to.

A warning for anyone with bad allergies, we do have a dog residing here. Hopefully her presence won’t be too much of a deterrent.

Learn how you can help keep this group going.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Damon

Thank you all for coming and helping to celebrate the group's first birthday. Hopefully there will be many more. I just paid my dues to meetup so the group will be up and running for another 6 months.

I have ordered a blueberry rhubarb for tomorrow, and I'll pick up some vanilla ice cream for topping. Anyone prefer whipped cream? Should provide us with at least 8 slices. Will we need more? Is everyone having pie?

Also I got a whole tub (1 gallon?) of vanilla ice cream, so I bet we're set on that front

I have finally found a pie shop worthy of the name, I am picking up a pie from Lauretta Jeans before heading over on Sat.

I don't often get the opportunity to share with an appreciative group, so good wines are a given for a gathering such as this one!

I will certainly bring wine and also a pasta-vegetable entree.

Would pie be a good addition? Perhaps some vanilla ice cream as well? I can also perhaps stop by Canteen to pick up some vege options that I know I'll love. ;-)

    Will bring:

A hug for knowledgeable, generous, and sweet master group leader Damon.

Two NW Film Center passes for Jacinda and one other of her choice.... ;-)

    ORFEO for loan to Resnick.

Cookies for pups (unless forbidden -- but better NOT be...: pups get celebrations, too).

Sauteed Chilean Langostinos w/ artichoke hearts for humans -- if I am mobile again by then. If not, then likely mundane and plain ole pickled eggs.... (First dibs)

Hope for Jack that he will have been able to figure out SOMETHING to bring....

Thanks for all who have made this a great group!

Happy Anniversary! And many more to come....

I don't even have the proper kitchen implements to make and transport food, so I'm going to be a mooch and unapologetically cram my face with others' homemade food.

You could always bring something pre-made. Not everyone last year made their own food but again that is optional.

      Or drinks :)
