3-Month Anniversary Double-Feature Movie Social!!!

To celebrate fun times and new friendships, I've reserved a room at Cafe Express where we can eat, drink, be merry, and watch two really God-awful movies. I hope to see many of the cool people I've met over the last three months, all in one place! YEEEAAAAAHHHH!!!!

I own 14 volumes of MST3K on DVD, and many bargain-bin VHS tapes. I also have several RiffTrax shorts and videos-on-demand. There are members of this group with more extensive so-bad-it's-good movie collections. And "I Luv Video" on Airport blvd is 6 minutes away and boasts over 200,000 movie titles. So our movie possibilities are virtually limitless!

I have a VCR, DVD/Blu-Ray player, and laptop for digital media.

Know what you want to watch? Leave a comment below explaining why your movie is the best-worst thing ever! We'll vote for the crème de la crème, and watch the top 2.

A good time with "bad" movies.

That was truly an awesome selection. I'll call them tomorrow to see if I can reserve the room next month. I'll let you know the date. If most of you who made it tonight can't come (especially Valerie), then I may cancel. What do you think. Horror?

I'm not sure how this VCR thing is going to work, what are you planning on hooking it up to?

    September 28, 2013

    • Kedar H.

I'll lug my VCR over in case yours doesn't work with an A/V...

Hey Kedar, this looks great! If a spot opens I'll see you there & bring a couple of viewing options.

Ok, mine works ok so I'll bring it. I can't guarantee it'll play old dirty cassettes but it plays most vhs fine

BTW it's likely I will have one other person with me so it could be +2 instead of +1. Just so you're aware. I'll bring three of my best vhs b movies and even if we can't watch em, well, at least I can show em off. Heh

    September 27, 2013

    • Kedar H.

Yeah that's cool -- might as well update your RSVP to +2 since space is open now. By the way, my VCR really sucks. Could we use yours?

All of these sound great. I think we could just bring movies, have a little show-and-tell, then vote for what we want to watch.

I too am looking forward to this event regardless of what's being screened. That being said, has anyone seen The Stabilizer? It's a crazy Indonesian action movie from 84. And I mean crazy.

Last comment (LOL) but I'm looking forward to meeting people no matter what ends up being screened.

Also can I just say that any time a movie has a made up drug in it, it's a quality movie. I'm trying to keep a list of all the ones I've seen so far (Class of 1999 has "edge" and "skin", there's "mist" in Prayer of the Rollerboys, "scat" in The Faculty... etc)

I have a ton of movies on VHS I could bring if someone brings a VCR. I have Dead-End Drive-In (pretty cool Aussie 80s flick with punk rockers and lots of explosions) and Street Trash (which I haven't even watched yet) on my computer... I don't remember the formats off hand. As far as VHS goes I could bring (and highly recommend) Alien Warrior (aka King of the Streets) and The New Barbarians (aka Warriors of the Wasteland -- there is a Rifftrax of this now actually, but it's funny enough on its own). I don't really have a lot of bad movies on DVD, I have Class of 1984 which is a classic everyone should see if they haven't. I also have the sequel, Class of 1999, on VHS (like every good b-movie sequel you don't need to see the previous movie first to enjoy it). Class of 1999 was made in 1993? 1994? Something like that. It has hilarious vehicles and futuristic fashions, Pam Grier as a cyborg, a prison-like high school, etc. Those are just my suggestions off the top of my head.

Forbidden Zone for a few reasons: Danny Elfman plays the devil, Oingo Boingo, Susan Tyrell, Hervé Villechaize from Fantasy Island, etc. It's a super fun/weird musical adventure.
