"The WAr Around Us "

Documentary (75 minutes)* (some Subtitles/ but I believe there is also "English" throughout....)

Director: Abdallah Omeish

Basic descripion: "..from the director of "Occupation 101", comes a feature film recounting the experiences of two foriegn journalists who covered Israel's invasion of the Gaza Strip in 2008-2009. Ayman Mohyeldin and Sherine Tadros were the only two foreign journalists (working for "Al Jazeera English" at the time) who managed to provide live coverage of Operation Cast Lead.... Produced and directed by Abdallah Omeish, this heart-wrenching film presents honest insight into the pressure these reporters felt for doing what CNN, BBC, and other news outlets couldn't or chose not to do... both reporters reflect on the roles and responsibilities of journalists during wartime. ... some parts of the documentary are extremely graphic and disturbing... offering a damning critique of how Western media covered the Gaza attack...."

(please see entertainment section of newspaper or online for further details!)

Showed up at 5:45PM unable locating the group although did run into one other woman by the name of Laura who couldn't find the group either. We sat together for the documentary suggesting newbies be told who and what to look for.

Very thought-provoking film, and difficult to watch many scenes. Gave an important perspective from inside Gaza that was very well-documented by the two reporters in the film. Nice that the director was there afterwards for a Q &A!

Thanks Charlie! That means if someone gets there early, can they reimburse you 1/2 the regular price? That would be great!
