Hmmm should we look for a place that serves quality rum before revisiting a classic, or being introduced to it for the first time? The Adult Horror programmers are bringing The Shining to the big screen and you're invited. Once Ive decided on a place for us to enjoy some drinks before the movie than I will update the status. Until then here is a synopsis of the film:
USA/UK, 119 min, OV
Director: Stanley Kubrick
Cast: Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Danny Lloyd, Scatman Crothers, Barry Nelson
When THE SHINING hit cinemas in 1980 many fans of the Stephen King novel were disappointed by the adaptation. Nowadays no best of list of horror movies or indeed of movies in general can afford to leave out Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece of madness and claustrophobia. The films iconographic images like the opening sequence in which the camera follows Jack Torrence' (Jack Nicholson) ascent to the remote Overlook hotel from above or like the scenes of Jack's little son Danny cycling through endless corridors riddled with phantasmagoric visions have been copied and ripped off time and again. None of the copies comes even close to the original which remains one of the scariest movies of all time.
